	Thread Break in Embroidery Machines</p>

It’s just a thread, but why does it keep breaking?

The most common issue faced while digitizing is the thread breaks, the splitting of the bulky threads creates a lot of hazards and slowdowns the process. It is common but indeed is a very frustrating issue for a beginner and also for an experienced digitizer. However, we at Genius digitizing have professionals who know all the ways to avoid and how to master this dilemma.

The reason for thread breaks

There are multiple reasons to report for the thread breakage in an embroidery machine, here are some of the commonly known,

  • The correct size of the needle, the small eye of the needle causes stress on the thread.
  • The wrong type of needle, embroidery needles have their own specifications such as a larger eye which forms better loops adjust the thread more effectively.
  • The handicapped needle eye, the metallic or abrasive threads often wear out the needle eye which further stress the thread.
  • The damaged shuttle hook, it often results in snagging the thread, result because of needle breakage or incorrect insertion of the bobbin case.
  • The incorrect threading, one of the common causes for thread breaks in an embroidery machine it is a user error caused by the uncertainty over the fact of the thread being in the take-up lever correctly.
  • Tension too high, some color dyes affect the tension and cause stress to the thread because of any individual thread spool or color that is simply pulling too tight, the tension needs to be lower when this happens.
  • Loose tension, the tension of the needle has to be tightened to avoid creating the excess thread which causes the thread loop to slump and further resulting in missed stitches.
  • A dried-out thread, the good quality threads are often lubricated with silicone during production and if the silicone solution dries out, the thread starts shedding or may cause tight tension, if this happens just spray the silicone spray and leave it for drying overnight.
  • Highly dense designs, it is a major factor that causes stress in the thread and results in deflecting, bending, or breaking of the needle which can cause hindrances in the loop formation resulting in the missed stitches.
  • The flagging of the fabric, this is one of the common explanations for thread shedding which is caused by incorrect or no backing, inappropriate presser foot height, bad hooping or poor hooping vibration.
  • Smooth thread path, it is quite necessary to clear the thread path, make sure there are no threads or needles blocking the passage or resulting in affecting the movement.
